Three Father’s Day Lessons from The Internet’s Dad

Ahead of Father’s Day, we spoke with Rob Kenney, who created the “Dad, How Do I?” YouTube channel during the pandemic to provide what he calls “Dadvice,” to kids who didn’t have a dad. He knew that role personally – his mom died and his dad left the family alone when Rob was 14.

Little did he know that his first video on how to tie a tie would strike a cord. In a little over two years, he’s gone from working in sales and being a loving dad to two grown children to being a wildly popular YouTube Dad.

Here are three takeaways on fatherhood from Rob:

1)    “A lot of quality time happens because of quantity time with kids.”
2)    “It’s hard to let your kids go, but it’s part of the plan of raising good adults.”
3)    “I want to encourage people to forgive. You can’t keep dragging that past into the future.”
